Downtown area

Here we are, waiting for sugar and milk to turn into ice cream.  If you look closely, to the right of Natalia's neck, you'll be able to see Mercedes.  We had to wait about 10 minutes for the ice cream to be "ready", but it was worth it.

The girls spotted "Pee Wee Herman" and his bicycle. They all wanted their picture taken with him.  Notice they're all still eating their homemade ice cream.

The bicycle exhibit (and Pee Wee) were right in front of the old Chicago and NorthWestern railroad depot so we stopped in there next.  Natalia and Mercedes "sent" a message to their mother.  The lady in the picture is receiving the message in this picture.  It's being sent using Morse Code (but not the International Morse Code that I had to learn to become a radio amateur).

A caboose has been added next to the railroad depot and that's what we visited next.  After I took this picture all four girls "jumped" off the steps of the caboose.  Of course I had to hold each girl's ice cream before she jumped so it wouldn't get spilled.

Each of the girls had some "spending money" and Erin decided to spend some of her money on red hair color.  The girls (except for Emily) let me spray their hair.  Here are the results.

Of course, if I was allowed to spray their hair, they should be allowed to spray mine also, right? (If they could find any).  Here I am with a Mohawk strip covering up part of my bald spot and red sideburns also (if you look closely).  My sister, Shirley, wouldn't consent to having her hair colored by the girls so she didn't earn the adjective "cool" from the girls that I did.

Another purchase, by both Mercedes and Emily, were handcuffs.  Here they are, tied together forever!  Mercedes is wearing the snake she purchased with her money while Erin is  wearing the lanyard she purchased (in addition to the red hair color).  I didn't get a picture of it, but Emily managed to lock her grandmother's shopping bag to the railing of the Christian Church.  Shirley didn't discover it until she started to walk away.

Later in the day, just before we drove to Panora, we stopped at the Merry Brook schoolhouse.  Here are Emily and Natalia, posing for me before going into the schoolhouse.

The girls enjoyed all the books and other exhibits in the schoolhouse and they consented to having their picture taken at one of the desks.

This picture was Emily and Natalia's idea.  The guide had told the girls the chair in the corner was for unruly students.  Natalia is playing that part while Emily plays the part of the teacher, scolding the student.

 Let's go to the Airport!
